June 16-20, 2025; 9:00am-12:00pm daily
Did you know that opossums are the only marsupials in North America? Or that there are eight different species of turtle in Nebraska and only one is terrestrial? For this day camp, campers will learn about some unusual, sometimes misunderstood, and simply extraordinary creatures that call Nebraska home. They will also learn about the important components of a natural habitat and explore some local ecosystems. This camp is only offered during the morning and is best suited for ages 6-8.
Day camps at Morrill Hall are hands-on, minds-on experiences where campers explore natural history topics. Each camp is led by UNSM educators, with potential opportunities to engage with our museum researchers and guest speakers.*
During each camp, participants will participate in a variety of activities, a snack will be provided, and each camper will make items they can take home. Please refer to our FAQ section and Information Packet on the website for more information.
* Researcher and guest participation based on camp topic and availability.
